Inkings

I’m surprised I’ve not done a post on tattoos in fashion before. So here it is…

Ever since Chanel jumped on the bandwagon with their transfer tattoos it seems everyone is ready to let their personalities shine by showing off their individual body art.

Even back in the 1920’s women have been inking themselves with all sorts of great images and scripts - but were always kept wrapped up since it was seen as taboo. Thank god that isn’t the case now. Even work places are relaxing on staff exposing tattoos in the office - Phew!

Maybe this means i can finally get a tattoo somewhere that doesn’t require being covered!

Line Up

This is a really easy look to create, and can be done with literally any combination of colours. Ive chosen to use Essie Forget Me Nots, Essie ChinChilly and Revlon Black.

Do the following to create the look:

  1. Paint half your nail with Forget Me Nots pink
  2. Paint the second half with ChinChilly grey - don’t worry about not getting it perfectly straight
  3. Use the black, wiping off the excess paint and using the edge to create the line right down the middle
  4. Repeat the process on all 10 and finish off with your Seche Vite fast dry top coat
  5. Wait for people to ‘line up’ and admire

Hear me Roar…

Animal print can look cheap - especially if its OTT, paired with red lipstick and white stilettos with a broken heel.

Fortunately, with the abundance of animal prints out there, on all different types of clothes, its hard to go wrong today. I literally don’t care if it isn’t fashionable anymore - i LOVE it!

My best animal print uses are with a pair of shoes, a jacket or with a scarf! Hear me roaaaaaaaaaar!

The long of it

Its officially spring, but its still a little bit too chilly to bare my legs totally. Which is why i am in love with long floaty skirts. Fabulous! Checking out a load of other blogs and of course whats in stores at the moment, they are in my face ALL the time. Usually when I’m faced with something on a daily occurrence (unless its chocolate, an unmentionable or free money) i get bored with it - but with long skirts - i seem to just keep falling in love a little more each time.

Not to mention combining these saintly skirts with trilby’s or bowlers and a great light knit will see me through the next few weeks until London becomes a heaving nest of topless builders and socks with sandels. There is literally nothing more i could ask for from one garment. A-Mazing!!

Nailed

This weeks nail design is inspired by magic - I’m like a magpie when it comes to anything that sparkles. So when i can put it on my nails, it only makes me even happier and like there’s a party on my fingers when i type!

This design can be created in 5 easy steps. First you will need to have the following:

A pale nude pink, i used OPI Malaysian Mist, Gold glitter by Barry M, Satellite by Chanel. As always I’m using base coat and top coat by Seche Vite.

  1. Use Seche Vite base coat before applying OPI Malaysian Mist, to coats.
  2. Using Barry M gold glitter, follow the natural curve of the top of the nail to leave a gold tip.
  3. Wait until touch dry and apply the Chanel Satellite polish, going over the Barry M and dragging half way down the nail. Two coats.
  4. Wait until touch dry and use the Barry M gold glitter again, going back over the tips.
  5. Finish up with Seche Vite fast dry top coat, and admire the magic on your finger tips!

As always, any questions - let me know.

Power

And by power, i obviously mean Flower Power. Spring is in the air my fellow Londoner’s. The daffodils are popping up every which way and I’m already planning my sunshine work wardrobe. I cannot wait to wear my new floral print sheer shirt, to don my light weight floral cardigans and pull out my beaten pair of floral sandals.

Yes its true - Spring = Floral wear in overdrive, and this Spring i cannot wait to clash my spring worthy prints and embrace everything powerful about florals.

Above is a selection of photos I’ve collected over time, forgive me, but a lot of the places i got them from are long forgotten - but their reason for being collected isn’t. Simply because, the photos capture the essence of floral prints and photography - literally capturing sunshine through a lens. Nothing can bring me down when i wear a floral print. I demand you all immediately go and purchase some - and if your budget allows - make it the Paul & Joe skirt in the below wish list post. <3 <3 <3

Perspective
A lot of the things we experience in life are wonderful and make life worth living. On the other hand, there are terrifying things that we can merely be an audience to. The power of seeing such events can make you gain a whole new perspective on your own life, and really make it worth living.
The events in Japan over the last week have been harrowing to witness, and understanding why such things happen from a spiritual point of view are baffling. Looking for good in situations like these, i like to think such awful events make others not involved, step back and take a new perspective on their own lives. Realising life is too short, so to not waste precious time dwelling on irrelevant things and live.

Undercut

I’ve been dabbling with the idea of having an undercut for a while now. I think it can look absolutely incredible if done the right way, and of course, depending on the persons bone structure, ear size and style.

I recently had my birthday, and as always it was fancy dress. This years theme was Punks & Rockers and i made myself a fake undercut by scraping my hair up into a mo-hawk. This was no easy task, as my hair is long - very long. I’m sure I’m still finding hair grips and jelly bands in there.

Anyway - i was told by a couple of people the undercut would suit me - im unsure. I love taking risks (see throwing caution to the wind post), but you cant undo a hair cut, and then there is the awkward growing out stage… what to do!?

I’d love to have the Alice Dellal look, but I’m just not sure I’m ready to commit to one look - i love being able to change from one vibe to the next. One day preppy, the next rock, the next feminine. Would the undercut stop me being able to do this? Will i have to don my Thomas Sabo jewelry and Metalica t-shirt everyday? DILEMMA!!!!
